Elgin Cathedral is a dilapidated but magnificent building, founded in 1224 during the era of Scottish Catholicism. In those days, the cathedral was the greatest creation of Gothic architecture. In 1270, a fire seriously damaged the cathedral and as a result of subsequent reconstructions, its building expanded significantly. In 1390, the cathedral was again damaged by fire, this time as a result of the attack of King Robert III's brother, Alexander Stuart, Earl of Buchan. In 1402, during the Lord of the Isles attack, another fire broke out. In 1560, the servants of the faith left the cathedral and moved to the parish church of St.
