Looking north from Vermont Avenue (center) at 51st Street (left). A Von's market (later spelled as Vons) is seen on the northwest corner of the intersection (left). Included within the market, according to the small neon sign in the upper left, is a Van de Kamp's bakery. Various other businesses are present along both sides of Vermont Avenue and a Foster and Kleiser billboard is present on the right. Photograph dated November 20, 1944. This supermarket later came to be occupied by the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles. Some of the other structures seen here have since been demolished and replaced.
