Looking across Wilshire Boulevard from the lawn bowling green in Douglas Park, located at 1155 Chelsea Avenue in Santa Monica. Seen are two restaurants, Casa Escobar (left of center) and The Round Table (right of center), as well as numerous storefronts (left). Designed by Ed Howard and established in the early 1930s, the park was named in honor of Donald Douglas, the aviation pioneer who in 1922 opened a factory and airfield at this site, which had previously been used as a movie studio. In 1927, the factory moved to Clover Field at Santa Monica Airport.
