Looking southwest from the Southern Pacific Railroad River Station towards the Civic Center (background left) and the downtown business district (background right). The 247-acre abandoned railroad yard, formerly known as the Cornfield, located just north of Chinatown (background far right) and within half a mile from El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument. A cluster of business towers and skyscrapers in the financial district stands out in the background. In 2006, this site became Los Angeles State Historic Park, Cultural Monument No. 82.
