Photograph caption dated March 29, 1949 reads, "The new 13-story General Petroleum Building at 612 South Flower street is the largest office building in Southern California. Completed last month at a cost of $11,00,000, it is now in operation. Eight floors are occupied by home office of the corporation. Other floors are taken by 45 other companies."
