Leidseplein. This, in fact, is not a square yet. The entrance to it is between the buildings, to the left. In the background, behind the tram, is the City Theater (Stadsschouwburg). Leidseplein (“Leiden Square”), together with Dam Square, Rembrandt Square, is one of the most famous squares in the city of Amsterdam, known as a place of entertainment and nightlife in the center of the capital of the Netherlands. Located in the southwest of the city center, it got its name from Leidsepoort, the huge city gate, demolished in 1862, along the road connecting the capital with Leiden.
