Today it is the only functioning Orthodox church on the territory of Helm. The temple was built in the years 1846-1852 from the funds of the Russian government, like a military church. In 1864, due to the increase in the number of Orthodox residents of the city as a result of the influx of Russian officials and the military, they changed their function and became a parish church. After Poland gained independence, the only one of the Helm church was not transferred to the benefit of the Catholic Church, nor destroyed. In 1928 he received the honorary rank of the cathedral. It is intended for the simultaneous participation in the service of 350-400 believers.
