In the XIX century, the ruins of the temple attracted the attention of numerous scientists and travelers, such as Charden, Morier, Ker-Porter, Telfer, Chantre, Schnaase, Marr, Smirnov, Romanov, Buniatyan, Trever, Manandyan. The French scientist Dubois de Montperet in 1834 tried with approximate accuracy to make a project for the reconstruction of the temple. At the end of the 19th century, the idea arose to transport all the details of the temple to Tiflis - the center of the Caucasian governorate and put here in front of the palace of the tsar's governor. Fortunately, this venture failed due to the lack of appropriate means of transportation. The temple was completely restored in 1976.
