View of the Los Angeles Police Department's Parker Center from above, looking southeast. The intersection of 1st and Union are at the upper right. The Parker Center is headquarters of the Los Angeles Police Dept., and is a Modernist, 7-story horizontal slab with bands of windows on the long east and west sides, and glazed terra cotta panels on the short north and south sides. Horizontal 2-story wings extend out into the surrounding parking lots, defining an entrance plaza and a visual base for the building. Architect: Welton Becket. Built in 1955.
