A workman pushes a wheelbarrow out of the tunnel under construction for elevator access to the Southwest Museum, top. Construction material is scattered around the tunnel entrance which is shored up by framing. Rocks on top of the framing are stabilizing the hill.The Southwest Museum building on Mt. Washington opened in 1914. It occupies a 17 acres overlooking Sycamore Grove on the northwest side of the Arroyo Seco Valley. Architects: Sumner Hunt and Silas. R. Burns.
