Plumes of white smoke pour out from Turnbull Canyon, and high into the skies in the Whittier Hills north of town. Several homes can be seen nestled along the mountain, and appear to be out of danger, as the white smoke indicates the fire has possibly been extinguished. The city of Whittier sprawls out in the background. Photograph dated August 31, 1955.
