West 34th Street, east from a point east of Twelfth Avenue, showing this thoroughfare being carried by a steel ramp over the railroad yards. This, in conjunction with a similar arrangement for Eleventh Avenue, constituted a major feature in the rehabilitation of this area under the joint auspices of the City and the Company in the furtherance of the West Side Improvement Project. Note the distinctive Empire State Building in the background of both views.
