Achilleion PalacePhoto album "An album of views and portraits, including the King and Queen of Greece and the Duke and Duchess of Sparta". This magnificent palace is 20 km from the city of Kerhira. In 1889, Elizabeth of Austria acquired Villa Vrailas in Corfu and began the construction of the palace. In 1891, construction was completed. The building, made in the style of Platonic romanticism, was built by Italian architect Rafael Carita and was supposed to be “worthy of Achilles”. The palace is surrounded by magnificent Imperial Gardens, from where a beautiful view of the surrounding valleys and the Ionian Sea opened.
