Interior view of Arco Plaza (now the City National Plaza) escalator looking from the bottom up. The two 52-story Arco towers replaced Morgan, Walls & Clements Zigzag Moderne Richfield building. The stone sheathed towers were built to contain the offices of the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company and Bank of America. This escalator leads to the plaza between the towers. Between the towers, the outdoor plaza contains a fountain sculpture, Double Ascension (1973), by Herbert Bayer (not shown in this picture). Built 1972-73. Architect: A.C. Martin & Associates.
