Aerial view of the College of Medical Evangelists, Loma Linda (Loma Linda University) view is looking east at the western portion of campus and toward the San Bernardino Mountains. The roads seen (vertically, l to r) are: Stewart Street, University Avenue (current name as of 2010) and possibly Barton Road and the intersecting road that curves (middle right to middle left) could possibly be Anderson Street. The exact names of the buildings shown are not known, but all are within the University perimeter. Photograph dated February 6, 1957.Loma Linda University was founded in 1905 as a sanitarium called the College of Medical Evangelists, by John Burden and Ellen G. White. From 1913 to 1962, the university taught basic sciences in Loma Linda, but sent its students to Los Angeles for clinical experience. In 1961 the college was upgraded to university status and renamed after the city.
