At the end of his life Rodin rented the ground floor in a luxurious mansion Biron, here was his workshop, and he lived here since 1908. A year before the death of the sculptor bequeathed his work and his art collection to the state, so the Rodin Museum in Paris, was established during his lifetime, in 1916. For the public it was opened in 1919. Quite naturally, this home to the art collection became a hotel in the Rue de Biron Varen.Etot mansion in classical style was built in 1732 for the famous French financier, who, however, could not live in it. Subsequently, the widow of the financier sold the mansion to Marshal Biron, who pitched here one of the most famous gardens of the park in Paris and left the building his imya.V XIX century mansion was replaced by several owners. In the year 1810-1811 it housed the Embassy of the Russian Empire.
