The Ipswich SocietySteeds-0223 Ipswich Station early 20th CenturyThis view of Ipswich station is from the London end with Platform 2 on the right and the Island platforms 3 and 4 on the left. The caption on the card give more details of the locomotive etc. "Engine no 1882 a Claud Hamilton 4-4-2 built in 1901 prepares to leave Ipswich Station for its 83 minute run to London. Ipswich's first station built in 1846 was in Stoke. The present building dates from 1860, though until 1883 it had but one platform, the island, left being a later addition. "This Collection was donated by Dr Steeds.
