A chain linked fence and a "Closed" sign guard the entrance to the Cyclone Racer roller coaster at The Pike amusement park south of Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach. Signs still advertise the ride ad the "World's greatest" for a price of 35 cents. Started in 1902, The Pike ran until 1979. The Cyclone Racer was created by Fred Church and built in 1930 by Harry Traver and was a dual-track (two trains could run at the same time), racing wooden roller coaster. It ceased operation in September 1968.
