Founded in 1365, Vienna University is one of Europe's oldest universities. About 92,000 students study at the university, which makes it the largest university in the German-speaking space in terms of the number of students studying. The University of Vienna was founded on March 12, 1365 by the Duke Rudolph IV, as well as his brothers Albrecht III and Leopold III. The modern main building of the University of Vienna was built in the years 1877-1884 according to the project of the architect Heinrich von Ferstel on the Ringstrasse. At present, the administration building, the majority of deans, the main university library, as well as some institutes are located in the main building. The remaining institutes and departments are dispersed in more than 60 points in Vienna.
