Los Angeles Convention and Exhibition Center, seen from Figueroa Street, is to open on schedule in July [1971] with its first show. While the Convention Center opened in 1971, it was later expanded in 1993 and 1997, when the northeast portion of the Center was demolished to make way for the Staples Center.
