Holy Bishop Gellert (Gerard Hungarian, years of life OK.977 -1046) - enlightener of Hungary, martyr for the Christian faith. The real name - Georgio Sangredo, was the Italian Monk-Benedektinets, in 1015 he came to Hungary to the king Ishtan I and for more than 30 years he lived here, appearing in the Christianity of the Hungarians. After the death of King, the period came when pagans came to power again. Gellert was executed - he was planted in a barrel with nails and dropped from this cliff to Danube. The monument was established in 1902, officially opened in 1904. The 7-meter statue of the bishop was created by the sculptor to the Dewlyan Yankovitz, and the statue of the Hungarian, listening to the sermon - the sculptor Aladar Gardosh.
