View taken during the reconstruction of Central Library's west lawn, located on the southeast corner of Fifth and Flower. Pedestrians cross at the intersection as construction workers are seen working on the site in the center of the image. A tractor turns onto 5th Street as it carries a potted tree to its destination. The west lawn, known as Maguire Gardens, was designed by San Francisco landscape architect Lawrence Halprin. Photo dated April 1993.
