Exterior view of the Ambassador Hotel, taken from a nearby Wilshire Blvd. building on June 3, 1987. The Cocoanut Grove is in the center. When the hotel opened in 1921 it was surrounded by bean and barley fields. Today, its neighborhood is a run-down commercial section of Mid-Wilshire.
