For a long time it was the city palace of the ruling dynasty of Prussia. In 1919-1939, the New Department of the Berlin National Gallery was located in the Crown Prince’s Palace, the first in a museum of contemporary art in the world.The Crown Prince’s Palace was completely destroyed during World War II, rebuilt in 1968 and was used to accommodate visitors to the city of Berlin.
