The Temple of St. Theodore (Greek Ναός των Αγίων Θεοδώρων) is one of the oldest parish churches of Athens. The church is dedicated to two saints at once, St. Theodore Tyrone and St. Theodore Stratilat. A simple cross-domed building. A marble plaque is embedded in the facade, indicating that the church was renovated in 1065 by Nikolai Kalomal. These data, together with an analysis of the architectural style, give the ante quem date of construction of the church. The dome drum is octagonal. The cloisonne masonry of opus mixtum testifies to the skill of the architects. Large stones at the bottom of the masonry form crosses. The church is decorated with pseudo-Kufic style plates. At the beginning of the Greek Revolution of 1821 the temple was badly damaged and repaired only in 1840. Byzantine frescoes lost, the temple re-painted in the XIX century.
