Intersection of W. 6th and Alvarado streets, showing the Alvarado Hotel on the northwest corner a small market and liquor store is open on the hotel's ground floor (right). Designed by architect John C. Austin, the hotel, a stylish Italian Romanesque revival structure located at 2065 W. 6th Street, became a flophouse in later years and was demolished.
