Rillly la Montagne is one of the oldest village of the Champagne region. Backing onto the mountain of Rheims and overlooking vineyards, Rilly la Montagne has kept its character and traditions of a small Champagne village.Note that until approximately 1912/1914, the street was called "avenue de la gare", and afterwards "rue carnot". Building on the right side of the street is a double shop of "Société Rémoise N°309" (Rheims company N°309): left side - épicerie & mercerie - (grocery store & haberdashery) and right side - buvette & restaurant - ( refreshment bar / café & restaurant). Restaurant owner is Mr. Allaire. Interestingly, it is also the name of the editing company of this post card: family link? therefore the photo? interesting.
