Holy See (Vatican City State) > Vatican CityBelvedere Palace. Pinia's courtyard: in the center there is a pedestal of an antique column of the 2nd century imp. Antonina Pia. It was dug up in 1703 near the square. Monte Citorio. The pedestal under Pius VI ended up in the Great Vatican Garden. Then it was moved under Gregory XVI (in 1831-1846) to the center of the Court of Pinia. It was restored in 1846. The column itself with Anthony Pius was lost in the 18th century, and here you can see the left scene with horsemen and infantrymen of the imperial troops (On the right side there is a similar plot. The back of the pedestal contained an inscription in Latin). The pedestal was moved in 1885 nearby - behind the Cone, replacing it with the Column of Concord.
